@ 3:08 a.m. I just found out my Mom has been reading my sister's diary. I bet she lied and said she didn't really read it though. I just can't take the chance that she might read mine so I have to lock up too. Truth be told, I can't believe it took her so long to read one of our diaries. I wonder if I would be too paranoid to make my livejournal friends only, even though I only bullshit in there. I'll have to think about it. I'm addicted to Bob Dylan, the early stuff at least. I need to take my severly overdue cds back to the library, but I just CAN'T. I wish I had some blank tapes. Can someone start a support group please? This problem has been going on for weeks now. His music just reaches somewhere inside me I think. We had our mock court case in COM law today, and I think my team did better. I hope we win. Seriously the other group seemed a bit flustered. I think they thought it would be easy to beat us. I had too much coffee while studying with Sam and Melissa at a truck stop today, which is why I'm typing this at 3 a.m. I've been looking at fat activism sites on the internet a lot lately. I'm realizing that fat prejudice is so ingrained in our culture that you practically have to be against everything to be a good fat-positive activist. Both PETA and Adbusters have run very negative ads about fat people. And I feel a bit torn about this. I love Adbusters so much that it hurt to read the fat activists slamming them. Adbusters is visually amazing, funny, entertaining and right on the money with it's political and social criticism. It's cool right now to hate PETA, everyone seems to hate them for one reason or another, whether it's their anti-fat ads, graphic slaughterhouse videos, or people calling them "domestic terrorists." Whatever that means. I hate their anti-fat ads too, but I have to come out and say I love PETA. Once again, I love PETA. I love it that there's an organization who speaks so boldly and uncompromisingly for those who cannot speak for themselves. And I'm not even a vegan, and once in awhile I buy a Proctor and Gamble product. But I admire them for their unrelenting passion for defending animals. I have a COM law test tomorrow so I must now either sleep or study. G'Night mate. Older Entries |
